I was so pleased to have completed two new paintings to enter into the KWSA Members show at Button Factory Arts in Waterloo. The first, I called 'Tea for Two' was painted from a photo that was graciously given to me to paint from by Cathy Buttrey Jillard. I happened to finish the painting around Mother's day and when I showed her my painting from her photo she told me that lilacs were her mother's favorite flower and the teacups also belonged to her mom. What a nice way to record special memories.
The second painting, 'Signs of Spring' was a painting of some trilliums I found on a walk in Steckle Woods in Kitchener this spring. I love the delicate pink colour and the way the light was shining through the overhead branches to light up the flowers on the forest floor.
I'm so pleased to announce that both of these paintings were purchased by my friend Beth N. and they both will find their happy place in her home. I went to pick the paintings up at the end of the exhibit and the staff said, "Oh! We must have forgotten to tell you! They both sold!" I totally thought they were kidding at first. But it made my day!
